Kevin Anderson

Portable wind turbine project

Year 13 Hard Materials

This student has submitted an outstanding performance report focussed on developing a portable wind turbine for his client who required a portable camping device which harnesses the wind/sun. It was designed so that small electronic devices like laptops, torches, GPS fridges etc, whose battery life usually lasts a maximum of 2-3 days, can be continually charged for a maximum use of two-and-a-half weeks.

Within this portfolio Kevin has produced evidence within this portfolio:

  • critical reflection on the technological practice and experiences;
  • demonstrated synthesis and integration of technological experiences in the evidence presented; and
  • explained how the complexities of the situation had been identified and explored.

This student was awarded a Scholarship with Outstanding Performance in 2008.

Kevin's project is featured in the Techlink Student Showcase Portable wind turbine.
