Content

The DVD is structured into two sections. There is a 20-minute overview detailing:

  • the types of food that are eaten in space;
  • how they are formulated, packages and stored;
  • how they are prepared and eaten;
  • how the waste materials produced are collected for disposal or recycling where appropriate.

A separate 'bonus features' section provides more detailed information on life as an astronaut in the International Space Station (ISS) environment and, as a bit of an aside, a recipe and method for making a 'healthy' pizza.

Ease of use

The material is scripted and presented to suit the school audience with excellent footage provided through the support of NASA. The DVD format allows for easy flexible usage.

Rating

The DVD is short and punchy and could provide informative background/support information for junior/middle school Food Technology programmes in particular.
