Curriculum / Qualifications links
Links can be made to all three strands of Technology in The New Zealand Curriculum (2007). The focus is on manufacturing and process technology.
Content
There are eleven short video clips in the series. Products covered are: Choc Bars; Soap; Candy; Pies; Fruit Juice; Magazines; Glass Bottles; Chocolate; Toilet Paper; Football Boots; CalciYum.
The Fun Facts incorporate product- and production-related statistics.
Ease of use
The material is up-to-date, relevant to students, presented in a lively fashion and easily watchable. The clips range from 1.5 to 3 minutes in length, so would be suitable for use in Technology programmes across all levels.
Rating
This is an excellent series of resources for teachers focusing on multi-unit production. The material presented would be particularly useful in Year 1-8 Technology programmes or in situations prior to an organised factory visit or where a factory visit is not a feasible option.
