Danjelle
Bush Primary School's Technology Centre
Year 7 – one-day project
Teacher: Jacquey Neilson
Danjelle attends the small country school of Tiraumea, east of Eketahuna. Every 12 days she attends sessions at Bush Primary School's Technology Centre with students from her school and from Alfredton and Hillcrest Schools in Pahiatua.
In this project Danjelle was asked to design and sew a gift suitable for mailing to a person of her choice, in line with NZ Post's postal specifications.
Danjelle worked through her brief in a methodical manner, identifying her stakeholder and the type of gift she wished to make. She then selected a suitable fabric and fastener to meet the constraints and performance specifications. A budget was prepared with consideration to the needs of the brief.
Danjelle identified the positive and negative aspects of using Velcro as her chosen fastener along with some specific attributes of the fabric that she had selected. She then cut out her gift and stitched it, taking her time to ensure that her product was neatly stitched and very well presented. The placement of her machine-stitched label was original and distinctive.
Teacher comment
"Danjelle completed her brief very well. She put a lot of thought into the reflection, review and revision sections, making sure that her justifications were full and accurate. She was very happy with her completed product as it most definitely met both the set and personal criteria."
