Intellectual property in Technology teaching
In 2007 Susan Corbett of Victoria University of Wellington undertook a study identifying intellectual property implications and issues that emerge from selected Techlink Classroom Practice and Technologists' Practice case studies, and from visits to schools.
As part of her documentation she supplied material suitable for inclusion on the Techlink site. This subsite and the pages specifically relating to the case studies are the result.
This subsite includes:
- Intellectual property – brief definitions – which explains some basic terms and concepts of intellectual property in the New Zealand legal environment;
- Intellectual property and student work – which highlights some Intellectual property issues of interest to Technology students when undertaking project work, gathered from Susan 's interviews with students and staff at Tauranga Boys' College;
- Confidentiality agreements for Technology students to use to help protect their intellectual property when undertaking project work;
- Nancy's Embroidery Shop – a look at the use of copyright, licencing and 'Creative Commons' in a business environment;
- Gisborne Girls' High School – a Beacon Practice school that integrated intellectual property ideas into its teaching;
- Interviews with companies profiled in Techlink Technologists' Practice case studies on the impact of intellectual property concerns on their businesses:
