Technology for my Community

This unit, in which Year 8 students developed gifts to donate to a kindergarten, had been delivered in previous years but was extended to include all Technology teachers.

Outcome Development and Evaluation

Establish an environment that encourages and supports student innovation when generating design ideas

  • Indicator: students can evaluate design ideas in terms of key attributes to develop a conceptual design for the outcome

Provide opportunity to develop knowledge and skills related to the performance properties of the materials/components students could use

  • Indicator: students can select materials/components, based on their performance properties, for use in the production of the outcome

  • community and participation for the common good
  • diversity, as found in our different cultures, languages and heritages

Key competencies emphasised in this unit included:

  • relating to others, through listening, recognising different points of view, negotiating and sharing ideas.
