Idea generation at Alaron Products Ltd

When a new product such as the encapsulated propolis is being developed, much of the success of the product is due to 'tacit' knowledge held by people within the company team that has been accumulated and proved successful over time. People directly involved in this product development include Ron Geiger who is the managing director, Jenny Ward , the quality assurance manager, Murray Jordan the production manager, Matt Jarvis the product co-ordinator and Alistair Simmons the production supervisor.

COP Brief development

From team discussions a brief will be developed that will determine the parameters of such things as how much product will be contained within the capsule and the volume of propolis compared to any other ingredients. The other ingredients will be carob powder and rice flour. Trials are carried out with about 20,000 capsules, a number that is usually sufficiently large to ensure that a full production run will be successful. Product specifications are written by the customer, (Comvita New Zealand) and approved in consultation with Alaron Products, once these trials have proved successful.
