Pre-planning
The unit was to combine three goals covering cross curricular links in Social Studies, Technology, and English.
- Social Studies:
We want to look at the role of the consumer and investigate that role in the development of product and/or service.
We will use a small sample of consumers in our school community and find out their opinions on soft drinks presently available. - Technology:
We want to use the information we have collected to look at the views and feelings about technologically developed and commercially available soft drinks.
We will then explore the possibility of an opportunity for a new drink based on grape juice, taking advantage of the rapidly changing face of the landscape in our area.
We will then develop an action plan, identify and collect what we need and produce the drink to meet the need as we have seen it. - English:
We want to identify and discuss ways in which both words and pictures or images can be combined for a particular purpose, such as persuasion and how they can be made to fit a certain audience or age group, who might be our possible consumers.
